[BINNS, Isaac, (1844-84)]. From Village To Town: A Series of Random Reminiscences of Batley During The Last 30 Years.

Interior: Browning to title, browning to endpapers and stain reverse of front endpaper, pages age toned, creasing at the margins throughout, occasional marks, spotting, some creasing to pages in places. Inscription to title page in an old hand that has noted the name of the author!
Exterior: Publisher’s blue cloth, lettered in gilt, (some wear, staining, and fading to cloth. Dent to edge of upper board).

A RARE book on this Yorkshire town.
Binns was born in Birkenshaw, involved during the 1860s in the production of dialect almanacs. From Village to Town’ is penned somewhat in the comic vein, it is an interest account of how people lived in Victorian Batley, full of old stories, anecdotes, and tales of local characters from bygone years. Binns died very sadly at the age of 39 in 1884.
