[TENNYSON, Alfred Lord]. Poems. MDCCCXXX. —-MDCCCXXXIII. Pages uncut (Occasional light spotting and light staining).
Original blue wrappers (creasing and light stains to covers).
8vo. [Toronto]: Privately printed, 1862.
Scarce pirated edition of Alfred Tennyson’s poems written between 1830 and 1833. This work is attributed to the London bookseller John Camden Hotten, who advertised the title in 1862. Tennyson took out an injunction against Hotten, preventing the copies from being sold, and getting £100 from the printer and an apology.
PROVENANCE: Old pencil inscription to upper wrapper: “Tennyson” inscribed by a previous owner as a reference to the identity of the author of the work. (I.e. This is NOT Tennyson’s signature!)
Please note that combined postage options can be arranged on some items, by request.
