John Holland (1794-1872) was an English poet, newspaper editor (Sheffield Iris and lately with the Sheffield Mercury) , writer on botany and local topographer. His works include a topographical poem on Sheffield Park and a book about the history of shoes and shoemakers. Earlier on in his life he was a Sunday School Teacher. His local history books include: A Tour of the Don (1823) and The History, Antiquities, and Description of the Town and Parish of Worksop (1826).
