Edgar Lubbock (1847-1907) and Arthur Kinnaird (1847-1923) are considered important figures in the history of early football.
Edgar Lubbock, just like Kinnaird attended Eton. He was an English amateur footballer who was part of Wanderers- the winning team of the Final of the FIRST FA CUP (1871-72). He was also played first-class cricket. He played once for Kent County Cricket Club, against the Gentlemen of Marylebone Cricket Club- his wicket taken twice by W.G. Grace!
Arthur Fitzgerald Kinnaird, 11th Lord Kinnaird. Was as a British principal of The Football Association, a leading footballer and considered by some journalists as the first football star. He played in nine FA Cup Finals, with a record of five wins in the competition, which remained uncontested until 2010, when Ashley Cole beat the record. Kinnaird was president of The FA for 33 years. Kinnaird studied at Eton, and then Trinity College Cambridge.
Please note for sale is volume one only!
Although not football related, this book in its inscription represents a lovely early slice of FA Cup history. A great gift from one early football luminary to another (before they were famous)!
