PROVENANCE: Robert George Wyndham Herbert, Ickleton (bookplate to each volume). Sir Robert George Wyndham Herbert (1831-1905) was the first premier of Queensland, Australia, at the age of 28 the youngest person to occupy this position. in 1855 he was private secretary to William Ewart Gladstone, and later called to the bar of the Inner Temple in 1858. He later lived in Ickleton, Cambridgeshire.
