John Wilson (1785-1854) was a Scottish advocate, literary critic and author, he frequently identified with the pseudonym Christopher North. He was born in Paisley and was the son of a wealthy gauze manufacturer. Wilson was a prolific contributor to Edinburgh’s Blackwood Magazine, mainly between the years of 1825 and 1835.
