About Simon Nuckley

I have always been interested in the curious, scarce, and unusual. My story started off when aged 10 I excitedly bought my first antiquarian book (a French odd volume from 1683) from a shop in Blackheath from then on in, I was hooked. I love and still do being able to hold in my hand a piece of history, owned, read and loved by a person many years ago in another time, another world. As my Dad (also an enthusiast) once said “you can smell the history”. Over the years I had amassed quite a large collection of old books (not so voluminous now)!

Having collected for many years I decided it was time to turn my passion into a business.

Following a stint with Oxfam Books, and an internship with a rare book company in Mayfair, I worked for a time in the world of antique book auctions – giving me the perfect opportunity to train my eye for the curious and unusual.

In 2021 I founded Nuckley Rare Books.
