PROVENANCE: Previous owner’s annotation to front pastedown of volume 1 (appears to be a shelf reference- perhaps from a private library?).

Includes a curious mid-19th century advertisement on blue paper (loosely inserted) for a work by H.M. Wheeler that describes a book called : ‘’Hebrew for Self Instruction”

Sir John Sinclair of Ulbster (1754-1835) was a British politician, a writer on both finance and agriculture, and the first person to use the word statistics in the English language.
