Interior: Lacking front endpapers, and final blank page or leaf of advertisements after the errata of volume 2. Occasional spotting and foxing to text, one small pin point hole clipping a letter, otherwise internally okay. Traces of clear tape at gutter on title page.
Exterior: Contemporary calf, heavily worn with loss to calf, some staining, upper board to volume 1 hanging by a thread, hinges and joints weakening on others, corners bumped and bent, text block split on volume 2, but holding.

PROVENANCE: Bookplate of James Mathie to front pastedowns and signature of previous owner dated 1837 to title page of volume 1.
